ZoomTags is a service integrated with ZoomGroups.

ZoomGroups is a service that offers blogs, email groups, classifieds and auctions, photo albums, social networking tools, etc. All of these services have been running for months, and are long out of the "beta" stage (that doesn't mean they're free of errors or that we won't improve them further, of course we will). ZoomGroups currently has over 850,000 registered users. Other sites using ZoomGroups underlying technology have been running since 1999 and handle a total of over 22 million registered users.

ZoomTags however is a service we've recently put together. It also uses some underlying technology we've been using for years but at this stage, not all planned features are active yet.

Feb.6th, 2006 - Update on the official launch date for ZoomTags

Originally we had planned to launch the service on February 6th, 2006, and in a way we've done it (we'll explain it later), however as we explain in our blog we have engaged in several deals with major advertisers, and we feel that it will be best for all affiliates - and consequently with the advertisers as well - to wait until these deals are closed, so that when we activate the service, affiliates will have a much larger variety of tags and ads in their clouds right from the very first day, so as to form appealing tag clouds.

When are we expecting to activate the service for both, affiliates and advertisers? We believe that within two weeks (three the most) we should be able to close these deals, and the moment it happens, we will activate the service without further delay. Believe us, we want to get ZoomTags started as much as you do!

Now, we said that "in a way" we've already launched. That's because we're already showing tag clouds in all affiliate sites, as long as the visitors are from Spain. From Spain you said? Well, yes. It just so happens that we've had advertising deals for quite some time for our web properties in Spanish (our services in English have never been ad-sponsored), and we felt there was no reason to wait, and that we could start using that pool of advertisers right now, as long as we geo-target it.

So, although we're talking about a very small portion of the market, if you are an affiliate and start seeing some numbers in your stats page but are unable to see the tag cloud in your web page, now you know why is that.

Other than that, before the final activation date:

• Webmasters, bloggers and site owners that signed up and put a ZoomTags' tag cloud on their site, will see that nothing is displayed (unless they're located in Spain). The only other exception is if you've already defined some "custom tags", in which case, your tag cloud will be seen by everyone, displaying those custom tags.

• Advertisers's ads will not be active on any tag cloud, and of course, no clicks will be generated.

• Some features will not be avaliable, althugh we'll be rolling them out as we go.

Advantages of signing up before the activation date:

The best part is that if you haven't signed up yet, you still have a chance to take advantage of our preactivation offer:

1. Advertisers who sign up during the pre-activation period will receive better placement during the next few months.

2. During the pre-activation period, if you go for a pay-per-click campaign, the price per click is fixed: $0.10 per click. If you go for the billboard model, the price per tag is also fixed: $20/month per tag. Advertisers signing up now and launching at least one campaign will always be charged these prices for that and any new campaigns during one full year, even if the price goes up later.

3. Web site owners who start displaying their tag clouds during the pre-activation period and keep their clouds active for at least 90 days, will get a %65 out of every click for life. The standard fee after the preactivation period is 50%.
